DIY Painters Argue Online Over Using Nason Paint Primer
I'm using the nason line. Ok so when i go to the body shop i'll be asking for dupont epoxy primer (also used as sealer), nason highbuild, dupont base and nason clear. I'm just a noob, but i got epoxy primer for bare metal and to act as a sealer. Paint over it on cast, but for a better finish i do go over it with a traditional high build sandable primer on tin work. The omni stuff says you are supposed to let it sit for 10 minutes after mixing to give it time to chemically do its thing.
Now that your paint is still soft a week later, clearly they were wrong. Nason paints are primarily industrial. Although they do have some automotive colours there are other paints that would suit the application much better. Talk to a couple of your local paint suppliers and see what they stock and what they recommend. It is what i have use one my last 4 projects and am using now on my 1968 plymouth gtx. These guys will also match paint if you send them a chip. All of the above supplies come priced with shipping to your front door. Nason epoxy primer has a 45 minute induction time before spraying!. I don't like etch primer, burns my eyes when spraying, even from spray can. Sanding epoxy takes more effort, though, but worth it, i think.
